BUCHAREST, OCT 25, SPA -- Romanian Defense Minister TeodorAtanasiu resigned Wednesday, saying he was stepping asideto halt a political fight between his ministry andPresident Traian Basescu, AP REPORTED. «The military is suffering from this political battlewhich I believe is dangerous,» Atanasiu told reporters. Earlier this month, Atanasiu was cleared of wrongdoing byprosecutors who were investigating allegations he orderedmilitary intelligence to spy on presidential staff.
