ROME, JULY 29, SPA -- ITALIAN FOREIGN MINISTER MASSIMO D’ALEMA IS DUE TO TRAVEL TO ISRAEL FOR TALKS AIMED AT ENDING THE BLOODY CONFLICT IN THE MIDDLE EAST, THE ITALIAN MEDIA REPORTED SATURDAY. D’ALEMA IS EXPECTED TO TRAVEL TO JERUSALEM ON SUNDAY TO MEET ISRAELI PRIME MINISTER EHUD OLMERT, FOREIGN MINISTER TZIPI LIVNI AND DEFENCE MINISTER AMIR PERETZ. THE ITALIAN FOREIGN MINISTER IS EXPECTED TO CALL ON ISRAEL TO MODERATE ITS ACTIONS IN LEBANON AND TO PROTECT THE CIVILIAN POPULATION.
