ON THE PHENOMENON OF TERRORISM, PRINCE SAUD SAID DESPITE THE FACT THAT TERRORISM HAS NO ACCEPTABLE JUSTIFICATIONS, YET EFFORTS SHOULD BE EXERTED TO DRY UP ITS SOURCES. HE NOTED THAT SAUDI ARABIA WHICH WAS ONE OF THE TARGETS OF TERRORISM, HAS JOINED MOST OF THE INTERNATIONAL AGREEMENTS PERTAINING TO FIGHTING TERRORISM. PRINCE SAUD SAID THE CUSTODIAN OF THE TWO HOLY MOSQUES KING ABDULLAH BIN ABDULAZIZ HAD EARLIER PROPOSED THE ESTABLISHMENT OF AN INTERNATIONAL CENTER UNDER THE UMBRELLA OF THE UN FOR COMBATING TERRORISM. 'IT SHOULD BE VERY CLEAR THAT NO RELIGION ADVOCATES TERRORISM, AND ALL RELIGIONS ADVOCATE NOBLE VALUES, AND SO THEY SHOULD NEVER BE HELD RESPONSIBLE OF THE CRIMES COMMITTED BY SOME OF THEIR FOLLOWERS', HE SAID. HE MADE IT CLEAR THAT SAUDI ARABIA DOESN'T TOLERATE ASSOCIATING ISLAM WITH TERRORISM AND AGGRESSIVE ATTITUDES. ON THE ISSUE OF DARFUR, HE HOPED THAT THE ONGOING EFFORTS FOR CORRECTING THE SITUATION IN THE SUDANESE PROVINCE WOULD BE GIVEN AN AMPLE TIME TO REACH SUCCESS. HE NOTED THAT THE SUDANESE GOVERNMENT HAS BEEN POSITIVELY COOPERATING WITH THE EFFORTS THAT AIM AT REALIZATION OF RECONCILIATION IN DARFUR. PRINCE SAUD EXPRESSED ANXIETY THAT SENDING INTERNATIONAL TROOPS TO DARFUR WITHOUT THE CONSENT OF THE SUDANESE GOVERNMENT MIGHT FURTHER COMPLICATE THE PROBLEM.--MORE www.spa.gov.sa/391848
