BEIRUT, AUG 30, SPA _ Lebanese Prime Minister FuadSaniora said Wednesday that he refused to have any direct contact with Israel, and that Lebanon would be the last Arab country to ever sign a peace deal with the Jewish state. «Lebanon will be the last Arab country that could sign a peace agreement with Israel,» he said. «Let it be clear, we are not seeking any agreement untilthere is just and comprehensive peace based on the Arabinitiative.» He was referring to a plan that came out of a 2002 ArabLeague summit in Beirut. It calls for Israel to return allterritories it conquered in the 1967 Mideast war, for theestablishment of a Palestinian state with Jerusalem as itscapital and for a solution to the Palestinian refugeeproblem _ all in exchange for peace and full normalizationof Arab relations with Israel. Israeli officials have said they hoped the cease-firebetween Israel and Hezbollah could evolve into afull-fledged peace agreement between Israel and Lebanon, according to a report of the Associated Press.--SPA www.spa.gov.sa/386042
