Yemeni opposition candidate accepts presidential election results

Sana'a, Yemen, Sep. 26, SPA -- The Yemeni opposition's presidentialcandidate Faisal bin Shamlan said Tuesday he accepts the results ofthe September 20 presidential polls as a "reality", reported the Deutsche Presse Agentur dpa. However, bin Shamlan, who gained only 21.82 per cent of the votesagainst a commanding 77.17 per cent share of ballots for incumbentAli Abdullah Saleh, said the results did not reflect the people'swill, according to dpa. "The people's resolve for change could not be defeated and ourpeaceful struggle would not stop whatever the hindrances are," binShamlan, 72, told a press conference in the capital Sana'a.
