Tehran, May 29, SPA -- IRAN SAID ON MONDAY THERE HAD BEEN NO MENTION OF TEHRAN SURRENDERING ITS DISPUTED URANIUM ENRICHMENT PROGRAMME IN TALKS WITH IGOR IVANOV, SECRETARY OF RUSSIA’S SECURITY COUNCIL. GOVERNMENT SPOKESMAN GHOLAMHOSSEIN ELHAM ALSO TOLD A NEWS CONFERENCE IRAN WOULD NEVER RELOCATE ITS NUCLEAR FUEL CYCLE TO RUSSIA. "THERE IS NO DISCUSSION ABOUT PLANS TO GIVE UP ENRICHMENT ON OUR SOIL AND IT IS A WRONG ARGUMENT THAT THE ENRICHMENT SHOULD BE DONE IN RUSSIA. AND THE ENRICHMENT IN IRAN ... WILL CONTINUE," HE SAID. IVANOV HELD INCONCLUSIVE TALKS IN TEHRAN ON SUNDAY WITH SENIOR IRANIAN OFFICIALS INVOLVED IN THE NUCLEAR ISSUE, REUTERS REPORTED. "THE GENERAL APPROACH IS THAT IRAN’S CASE SHOULD REMAIN IN THE (INTERNATIONAL ATOMIC ENERGY) AGENCY AND IF IT DOES SO ALL INTERNATIONAL AND LEGAL SUPERVISIONS WILL CONTINUE AND THAT IS IN EVERYONE’S FAVOUR," HE ADDED.--SPA www.spa.gov.sa/364715
