MOSCOW, Aug 8 (SPA) - The Kremlin on Tuesday brandedU.S. sanctions against two leading Russian arms exporters "anunfriendly act" and warned they could rebound on U.S.-Russiarelations. The United States announced sanctions on Friday on sevenfirms from Russia, India, North Korea and Cuba for sellingrestricted items to Iran, which Washington fears is trying tomake nuclear weapons. The sanctions were imposed on Russian state export agencyRosoboronexport -- and state-owned warplane maker Sukhoi. "This looks like unfair competition. It was an unfriendlyact towards Russia and it was not done in a spirit ofcooperation," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said. "If we are to speak about possible consequences of this actfor bilateral relations, of course it has not contributed to afurther strengthening of the partnership. Among other things wecan not rule out further negative consequences for thisrelationship," he said. The U.S. State Department said it imposed the sanctionsafter Washington received information the companies hadtransferred materials to Iran that could contribute to thedevelopment of weapons of mass destruction or missiles.
