Washington, June 16, SPA -- President George W. Bush will push the European Union and Iraq’s neighbors to meet previous pledges of aid for Iraq, White House spokesman Tony Snow said Thursday. “He will be contacting leaders in the region” to try to reduce a $13 billion gap between pledges made at an October 2003 donors conference in Madrid and what has actually been provided, Snow said. “As far as we can tell, only $3 billion of that has been committed,” Snow told reporters. “That would include allies from all regions, and we’d like to see them go ahead and meet those commitments.” Bush also said earlier that he would press leaders in Europe, Asia and the Middle East to increase support of Iraq’s new government. --SPA 16/06/2006 12:56 ت م www.spa.gov.sa/369040
