DAMASCUS, SYRIA, JULY 17, SPA -- IRAN’S FOREIGN MINISTER ARRIVED IN SYRIA FOR TALKS WITH ITS GOVERNMENT MONDAY ON THE CRISIS IN NEIGHBORING LEBANON. IRANIAN FOREIGN MINISTER MANOUCHEHR MOTTAKI DID NOT SPEAK TO REPORTERS ON ARRIVAL IN DAMASCUS, BUT WENT HEADED STRAIGHT FOR TALKS WITH PRESIDENT BASHAR ASSAD AND FOREIGN MINISTER WALID MOALLEM, THE ASSOCIATED PRESS REPORTED. ON SUNDAY, IRAN THREATENED «UNIMAGINABLE DAMAGE» TO ISRAEL IF SYRIA WERE TO BE ATTACKED. IRANIAN SUPREME LEADER AYATOLLAH ALI KHAMENEI SAID THAT HEZBOLLAH WAS WINNING ITS FIGHT AGAINST ISRAEL.
