Bangkok, Feb 27, SPA -- Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra agreed to meet Thailand's three opposition parties on Monday to answer their calls for constitutional change in exchange for their participation in snap elections on April 2. In announcing the 1100 GMT meeting at parliament, Thaksin said he agreed with the idea of forming a neutral body to amend the 1997 charter, but said he would not sign a pact with the Democrat, Mahachon and Chat Thai parties to set it up. His stance suggests there will be no quick ending to the political turmoil that has gripped Thailand for the last few weeks, Reuters reported. But it was unclear whether the Democrats, the biggest opposition party, would go through with their threat to boycott the April poll. "We urge all political parties to make political reform a compulsory election platform and to push for it after they get elected," Thaksin told a news conference. --MORE 14 02 Local Time 11 02 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/334998
