Beijing, March 3, SPA -- Sixteen passengers who died in a bus firein south China might have survived if the vehicle had beenequipped with basic safety equipment, the official XinhuaNews Agency said Friday. Investigators determined that the bus fire Wednesday on ahighway in the Guangxi region was caused by an oil leak inthe vehicle's diesel engine, Xinhua said. Forty-two people were aboard the bus when it caught fireand 16 were killed. More would have been able to escape the blaze if the bushad been equipped with hammers to break the windows and anemergency manual door latch, the report said.
