Islamabad, May 2, SPA -- Pakistan’s per capita income has reached $800 per annum, which is almost double in just four years, said Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz on Monday. He told BBC world that foreign direct investment (FDI) and domestic ventures would touch the highest level during the current year. Aziz said the economy was brimming with confidence and just beginning to attract foreign investments. The prime minister said that despite the last year’s devastating earthquake, Pakistan economy was showing more than 6 percent growth rate due to the reforms and judicious policies of the government. He said the middle class was also growing fast. Pakistan is the most open trade country in South Asia, he added. “We have no restriction on trade from any country. Tariffs have been reduced. Trade from Pakistan to India is increasing.” The prime minister said relations with India were heading in the right direction. “The Kashmir dispute has to be resolved, if we are to have normal relations with India.” --SPA 1329 Local Time 1029 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/357816
