Al-Quds city, Oct 9, SPA -- Israel reopened a cargo crossing with theGaza Strip on Sunday, and Palestinians said this wouldalleviate a shortage of fruit and dairy products in theterritory. The Karni passage and others with the Palestinian area hadbeen closed almost continuously since Sept. 24 after dozensof rockets were fired from Gaza into Israel. As a result, the shelves of Gaza shops had been thinned, primarily offruit and dairy products, and in some places, baby formula,Palestinians said. Israel said Sunday it had reopened Karni in part indeference to the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, which beganlast week. Palestinian officials at the crossing said itwas only partially opened.
