Explosion in British embassy in Zagreb injures one person

Zagreb, Croatia, Sept 19, SPA -- One person was injured Monday by an explosion in the mail room of the British Embassy inCroatia, the spokeswoman said. An explosive device appeared to have detonated at around7:30 a.m. (0530 GMT), said Tessa Fras, the embassyspokeswoman. One person, a local employee, suffered minorinjuries and was taken to a local clinic. The ambassador,John Ramsden, went to the scene later in the morning, shesaid. The security level in the embassy has been stepped up,Fras said. Local authorities are investigating the cause ofthe blast. Zlatko Mehun, Croatian Interior Ministry spokesman, toldThe Associated Press that police have not yet determinedwhat kind of device caused the explosion.
