Israel plans high-level Tunisia trip, sends messages to Indonesia

Al-Quds city, Sept 5, SPA -- Israel is planning on sending ahigh-level delegation to Tunisia in November and has sentmessages to Indonesia expressing interest in forming tieswith the largest Muslim country in the world, an IsraeliForeign Ministry official said Monday. Trying to ride the wave created by its historic withdrawalfrom the Gaza Strip and four West Bank settlements, Israelis courting the Muslim world, openly calling on thesecountries to form ties _ even low-level ones _ with Israel. Israeli Foreign Minister Silvan Shalom's attendance inNovember at a U.N. conference in Tunisia is a step towardrenewing ties with the North African country, which cut offits low-level relations with Israel when fighting with thePalestinians erupted in September 2000, said ForeignMinistry spokesman Mark Regev.
