Cairo, Sept 27, SPA -- President Hosni Mubarak, a close U.S.ally and longtime leader of Egypt, was sworn in Tuesday fora fifth, six-year term after a landslide victory in thecountry's first contested presidential election. Mubarak was sworn in by parliamentary Speaker Fathi Serourduring an emergency session of the legislature held undertight security in downtown Cairo, The Associated Press reported. Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi attended the ceremony. The Egyptian leader was later to address the house,dominated by his ruling National Democratic Party, tooutline the priorities of his government.
