London, July 12, SPA -- Air Force personnel at a major U.S. base inBritain have been ordered to stay out of London because ofsafety fears, but Britain's defense chief said Tuesday thatthose orders are under review. "You will not be surprised to know that my people havebeen in touch already with the American embassy," DefenseSecretary John Reid said in an interview with GMTV news."I understand this is being urgently reviewed. It was alocal decision taken locally." The order to 5,000 Air Force men and women at MildenhallAir Force Base in eastern England was issued Thursdayfollowing four bombings on the London transport system,said Air Force spokesman Matt Tulis. The order applied to the area inside the M25 motorwayencircling London, he said. Travel on official business waspermitted, he added.
