COLOMBO, Dec 23 (SPA) -- Suspected Tamil Tiger rebels killed 13 Sri Lankan sailors in a landmine attack on a naval convoy in northern Sri Lanka on Friday in the worst breach of a 2002 ceasefire so far, the military said. Military spokesmen said a claymore fragmentation mine appeared to have exploded near a bus carrying sailors in the coastal Mannar district, while a probable anti-vehicle mine ripped through a truck traveling in the same convoy. "The troops are now clearing the area," army spokesman Brigadier Prasad Samarasinghe said. "It is difficult to know exactly what happened, but there were at least two explosions. It must be the Tigers -- they are the only people who would do something like this." Thirteen sailors were killed and at least two were wounded, the navy said, although some military sources said the figure was higher, according to a report of Reuters. --SPA 14 33 Local Time 11 33 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/313975
