Kandahar, Afghanistan, Oct 18, SPA -- U.S.-led coalition forceskilled four police after mistaking them for militantsduring an operation in southern Afghanistan, a provincialspokesman said Tuesday. The coalition said it could notconfirm the incident and was investigating. Coalition troops opened fire at the police in Kandaharprovince's Maywand district late Monday after spotting theofficers firing their weapons into the air and mistakingthem for Taliban rebels, Kandahar Gov. Asadullah Khalidsaid. He said the shooting occurred while the coalition forceswere hunting for militants thought to be in the area.
