Polish premier-designate sees no certainty in building government with pro-market p

Warsaw, Oct 25, SPA -- Poland's prime minister-designatesaid Tuesday it was still unclear whether coalition talkswould succeed between his conservative Law and Justiceparty and the pro-market Civic Platform party. Kazimierz Marcinkiewicz said in an interview on stateradio that he remained optimistic that a government wouldbe formed, but that there appeared to be uncertainty on thepart of Civic Platform leaders Donald Tusk and Jan Rokitaon whether to join a government at all. As talks continued Tuesday, Rokita indicated that thetalks were in "crisis." "Undoubtedly we have to work through a crisis, and we aregoing to try to reasonably overcome it in the interest ofthe country," Rokita, who has been designated deputy primeminister, told reporters before a meeting withMarcinkiewicz.
