Jakarta, Indonesia, July 25, SPA -- Thousands of demonstrators setfire to government buildings on Sumatra Island on Mondaywhile protesting a local election they claim was marred byirregularities and fraud, police and witnesses said. Some 4,000 people who took to the streets in Bintuhan, atown in Bengkulu province, went on a rampage afterofficials failed to meet with their representatives todiscuss allegations that last month's vote for the posts ofdistrict head and deputy were rigged. Outnumbered police stood by as the crowd torched alawmaker's residence, an election commission office, andthree other government buildings.
