Straw Urges Iranian Compromise with EU on its nuclear program

Brussels, May 23, SPA -- British Foreign Secretary Jack Straw said Monday he hoped nuclear talks between threeEuropean Union countries and Iran this week could makeprogress, and appealed to Iran to compromise. Straw, along with foreign ministers from France andGermany and EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana, are tohold urgent negotiations with Iran on Wednesday in Geneva,aiming to put the talks back on track. The three EU countries and Solana were to get the backingof other EU ministers at Monday's foreign ministersmeeting, ahead of the Geneva talks. "The Iranians are tough to negotiate with," Straw was quoted as saying the Associated Press.
