Ramallah, West Bank, May 23, SPA -- A senior Palestinian officialinvolved in organizing this summer's parliament electionsaid Monday it is logistically impossible to conduct thevote as planned, on July 17. The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity to the Associated Press, said the Central Election Commission needs at least two monthsfor planning. However, the commission can't start most ofits planning until a new election law is finally approved. Later Monday, the election commission was to issue astatement on the need for a two-months preparation period. Parliament approved a final draft of the election law lastweek.
