Jakarta, May 9, SPA -- Suharto, who ruled Indonesia for 32 years, is suffering from internal bleeding that is potentially life-threatening, according to doctors. "The bleeding is influencing other organs such as the brain, heart and kidneys," Mardjo Soebiandono, head of the medical team treating Suharto at Jakarta's Pertamina Hospital, said Monday. Suharto needed to stay in intensive care, and his condition could be life-threatening "if the bleeding continues," Soebiandono said. "The possibility for recovery is 50-50," The Associated Press quoted Soebiandono as saying. The 83-year old former strongman was taken to hospital last Thursday after blood tests showed he was anemic. Suharto has suffered a number of health problems including two strokes and intestinal bleeding since being forced to resign in 1998 amid violent pro-democracy riots.--SPA1054 Local Time 0754 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/260922
