Singapore, June 4, SPA -- The United States and two chief Asianallies, Japan and South Korea, warned Saturday that NorthKorea's development of nuclear weapons poses a grave threatto global security and said dialogue was the only solutionto the standoff. At a forum of Asia-Pacific defense leaders, U.S. Secretaryof Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld said North Korea might bewilling to sell nuclear technology, and South KoreanDefense Minister Yoon Kwang-ung said the North's activitiescould lead to a nuclear arms race in the region. Japan's defense chief, Yoshinori Ono, also expressedconcerns over Pyongyang's nuclear ambitions and stressedthe need to revive six-party nuclear disarmament talks. Thelast round of negotiations was held a year ago.
