Kandahar, July 23, SPA -- Suspected Taliban militantsfatally shot a district judge in southern Afghanistan onSaturday, a day after alleged rebels killed a localadministrator in the area, officials said. Two attackers on motorcycles shot the unidentified judgeearly Saturday while he was walking to work in Kandaharprovince's Panjwayi district, said District Chief NiazMohammed. Police are investigating the shooting but no arrests havebeen made, he was quoted as saying by The Associated Press. The attack came a day after a bomb attack killed districtadministrative official Mohammed Shafi in nearby Shah WaliKot district, said provincial police chief Abdul MalikKhan. Shafi was killed early Friday when a remote-controlledmine exploded as he walked out of his house. "The Taliban was responsible," Khan said.
