Israel's Sharon denies heart attack rumors

Al-Quds city, July 24, SPA -- Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon onSunday denied rumors he had had a heart attack. Israel Army Radio said security officers across thecountry had received pager notices Sunday that Sharon hadfallen ill. At a Cabinet meeting, Sharon set the record straight: "Several minutes ago, I heard a rumor that I suffered aheart attack. I want to prove that I am capable ofspeaking. I understand that the rumor has created anuproar, and I want to relieve or disappoint everyone: Asyou can see, I am in good shape," the prime minister'soffice quoted him as saying. The radio report said Jewish extremists, who opposeSharon's plan to withdraw from the West Bank, weresuspected of being behind the misinformation campaign.
