Karachi, April 12, SPA -- The United States Consulate inthis southern Pakistani city was closed on Tuesday due to asecurity threat, U.S. officials said. "We received information that increased our securityconcerns," U.S. Embassy spokesman Greg Crouch said fromthe capital, Islamabad. He said the consulate would be closed only on Tuesday, andwas expected to reopen Wednesday. The consulate in Karachi issued a warning for Americancitizens not to visit the building or the nearby MarriottHotel until further notice. It was not known who made the threat.
