Lisbon, May 30, SPA -- Algerian President AbdelazizBouteflika on Monday began a three-day visit to Portugalwhere he was due to sign bilateral trade and cooperationagreements. Bouteflika and Portuguese Prime Minister Jose Socrateswere to seal accords on defense, tourism and air transporton Tuesday. Socrates last week was in Morocco where he secured tradedeals as part of his policy of expanding business withNorth Africa. Algeria is a major supplier of oil and natural gas toPortugal. Bouteflika was due to meet Monday with PortuguesePresident Jorge Sampaio and Lisbon Mayor Pedro SantanaLopes.
