London, May 30, SPA -- Prime Minister Tony Blair said Monday thatit was too early to say if Britain will hold a referendum on the proposed EU constitution, the British news agency Press Association reported. Foreign Secretary Jack Straw indicated Britain would wait a week to announce its intentions. Blair was speaking to reporters in Tuscany, Italy, a dayafter France rejected the treaty in a referendum that castserious doubt on whether the ratification process willcontinue across Europe. To date, nine countries haveapproved the text, which needs to be unanimously adopted. Blair, who was expected to call a popular vote on theconstitution next year, would face a major battle for a"yes" vote. He said Monday it was now "time for reflection," PressAssociation reported.--SPA1304 Local Time 1004 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/266118
