Jakarta, May 16, SPA -- Six people _ including fivepolicemen _ were killed Monday when a police post introubled Maluku province was attacked by unidentifiedgunmen, a spokesman said. Maluku police spokesman Maj. Hendro Praesetyo said thefive officers belonged to the Mobile Brigade paramilitaryunit. He said the attack occurred in the village of Loki onSeram, the largest island in the Maluku archipelago. The Associated Press quoted local government officials as saying that the gunmen abducted three teenagers to lead them to the police post, and after the firefight shot dead one of them. The attackers _ whocarried off a variety of infantry weapons _ fled the scenein a speedboat. The Maluku islands are about 2,600 kilometers (1,600miles) northeast of Jakarta.
