Al-Quds city, March 6 (SPA) - Israel may hand over Jordanian nationals imprisoned in its jails to Jordan after Amman's foreign minister demanded their release on Saturday, a senior Israeli official said. Jordanian Foreign Minister Hani Mulki, on the first trip to Israel by a senior Jordanian official since 2001, said freeing Jordanian prisoners was "a top concern" in line with Jordan's peace treaty with Israel. "I don't think this should be responsible for derailing our relations," Mulki told reporters in a joint news conference in Tel Aviv with Israeli Foreign Minister Silvan Shalom. "At the same time you have to understand they (the prisoners) are important to us and we want to see them released next month or during this month." Jordanian officials say Israel is holding about 20 Jordanian prisoners, including several jailed before Jordan's peace treaty with Israel was signed in 1994. --SPA 1526 Local Time 1226 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/244571
