Baghdad, Jan 17, SPA -- A suicide attacker exploded a car bomb Monday in front of a police station in Bayji, 200 kilometers north of Baghdad, killing six policemen and wounding two, police said. Colonel Hassan Ahmed of the city's police said the attacker broke through a barricade in front of the station before detonating the bomb. All the casualties were members of the police. Elsewhere insurgents killed seven Iraqi soldiers north-west of Baghdad after ambushing the vehicle they were travelling in, police said Monday. Police in Buhriz city, 80 kilometers north-west of the capital and some 8 kilometers south of Baquba, said the bodies of the seven soldiers were discovered early Monday. One of the soldiers had been beheaded in the attack late Sunday while three were shot and three more burnt to death in their vehicle. Bayji and Buhriz both lie in the so-called Sunni Triangle, scene of many insurgent attacks. --SPA 1130 Local Time 0830 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/233108
