Ramallah, West Bank, June 18, SPA -- The Palestinian parliamentpassed a compromise election law Saturday afternoonremoving a major hurdle to holding new legislativeelections that had been scheduled for next month but werepostponed indefinitely. The new law would create a mixed electoral system, withhalf the lawmakers to be chosen by districts and the otherhalf to be chosen from a national slate of partycandidates, The Associated Press reported.
