United Nations, Oct 19, SPA -- Ashraf Jehangir Qazi, the United Nations envoy to Iraq, arrived in Baghdad Monday evening and is expected to meet with officials to discuss future plans for a U.N. presence in Iraq, U.N. spokesman Stephan Dujarric said today. "Let's see what comes out of these meetings," said Dujarric when asked about the future of a larger peacekeeping and humanitarian force in Iraq. There are currently only 35 U.N. staff members in Iraq due to security concerns; the rest of the staff operate remotely from a base in Amman, Jordan. Dujarric also said that the status of U.N. protection force recruitment would be announced "shortly." --SPA1220 Local Time 0920 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/211919
