nomination Kiev, Ukraine, Feb 3, SPA -- Ukraine's parliament convenedThursday to consider Yulia Tymoshenko's nomination for thecountry's No. 2 job and her ambitious proposals to helpPresident Viktor Yushchenko transform this ex-Sovietrepublic into a prosperous, European nation. On the eve of the vote, Tymoshenko dispatched a 63-page,five-year government program to lawmakers laying out goalsto dismantle corruption, raise living standards and leadUkraine into European Union membership talks. "Our government work would be exclusively in theinterests of the people," she wrote in the program,entitled "Toward the People." "New government policies would be constructed on a clearset of principles: honesty, openness, patriotism,professionalism and effectiveness." Yushchenko's fiery ally needs approval from a simplemajority of Ukraine's 450 members of parliament _ aproportion lawmakers said she should easily win. Herpresentation, to be followed by a vote, was put off until 4p.m. (1400 GMT) to allow Yushchenko to attend, ParliamentSpeaker Volodymyr Lytvyn said.
