Moscow, March 15, SPA -- Three Russian army deserters left their unit on the border with China Tuesday, killing three army officers and three policemen, the ITAR-Tass news agencyreported. The three conscripts serving in a frontier guard unit inthe far eastern Chita region attacked a sentry in themiddle of the night and seized his machine-gun, then usedthe weapon to gun down three army officers, ITAR-Tassquoted the Federal Security Service, or FSB, press serviceas saying. Taking four machine-guns with them and an army truck, theydrove off with the sentry but some eight hours later borderguards and police forces surrounded them 40 kilometers (25miles) southeast of the city of Mogocha, near the borderwith China.
