Dhaka, Feb 6, SPA -- Police swinging batons clashedwith stone-throwing protesters Sunday in Bangladesh's sixthanti-government strike in eight days, killing one policemanand injuring at least 15 other people, an official said. The main opposition party, the Awami League, is organizinga series of nationwide strikes to protest the killings offive of its members in a Jan. 27 grenade attack at apolitical rally. Three suspects from the ruling party have been detained, but the government denies involvement and has vowed to remain in power until its term ends in 2006, the Associated Press reported.
