Tegucigalpa, Honduras, Dec 24, SPA -- Unknown assailants opened fire on a public bus in northern Honduras late Thursday, killing at least 23 passengers and wounding 16 others, apparently many women and children, police said. The shooting took place about 7:30 p.m. local time in the northern Atlantic city of Chamelecon, 125 miles north of the capital Tegucigalpa, said police spokesman Deputy Commissioner Wilmer Torres. "It was an unbelievable massacre," he said in a telephone interview. The assailants left a note saying they represented a revolutionary group that opposes the death penalty, Torres said.--SPA1048 Local Time 0748 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/227202
