Gaza City, Dec 12, SPA -- The Israeli army fired three tank shells at the Khan Younis refugee camp in the southernGaza Strip on Sunday, moderately wounding fiveschoolchildren and lightly wounding two others, Palestinianofficials said. The army denied firing tank shells, saying it used onlylight weapons to target militants attempting to launch amortar shell. Associated Press Television News footageshowed a large hole in the roof of a building behind theschool that appeared to house a playground. Palestinian officials said the shell wounded sevenchildren, two of whom were treated at the scene. The otherstudents, aged 8-12, suffered shrapnel wounds and weretaken to the hospital with moderate injuries, Palestinianmedical officials said.
