Damascus, May 1, SPA -- Syria on Sunday welcomed RussianPresident Vladimir Putin's proposal for a Mideast peacemeeting in the fall. The government-run Al-Thawra newspaper said the Russianproposal was an opportunity to distinguish between "thosewho are in the peace trench and those facing the oppositedirection."
