Yamani Holds meetings with Pakistan's President and Premier

Islamabad, Feb 9, SPA -- The Visiting Saudi Commerce & Industry Minister, Dr Hashem bin Abdullah Yamani Wednesday held separate meetings with Pakistan President General Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz and discussed enhancement of Saudi-Pak trade relations. The Saudi minister praised Pakistan's recent economic turn-around and said it could serve as an example for other Muslim countries in the era of intense economic competition, an official statement said. "The remarkable growth and stability of Pakistan's economy offers an excellent example of how a Muslim country can succeed in the highly competitive world scenario," Dr Yamani said. The Saudi investors and industrialists, he said, eye Pakistan as one of the most conducive destinations for investment in view of Pakistan's friendly policies and fast-expanding economy. Welcoming the Saudi delegation, President Musharraf recalled Pakistan's close brotherly relationship with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, stating that the people of Pakistan hold the country in the highest esteem. "We can take our economic relationship to higher levels to our mutual benefit by translating these wonderful fraternal ties into vibrant and dynamic trade and economic cooperation," the President said. The Saudi minister thanked the President and the Prime Minister for the opportunity to meet them and described his delegation's interaction with senior Pakistani economic and commerce officials as productive. Dr Yamani conveyed good wishes from The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Fahd Bin Abdul Aziz and Crown Prince Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz, the Deputy Premier and Commander of the National Guard to the President and the Prime Minister and said Saudi Arabia prays for continued progress of Pakistan.
