Dubai, United Arab Emirates, Dec 14, SPA -- Iraq's foreign ministersaid his interim government wants everyone to participatein next month's elections, but expects pro-Saddam HusseinBaathists and extremists to boycott. "Any attempt with these two groups (to get them toparticipate) is, I believe, a waste of time," HoshyarZebari said in a speech at a forum on the challenges facingthe Arab world. "We, as an Iraqi government, are working on includingeverybody ... but to be realistic we do not expect everyoneto participate," he said. "Currently, the Iraqi government's efforts areconcentrated on providing security for nearly 9,000 pollingstations," Zebari said, adding that one solution might beto stagger voting in some areas so as to concentratesecurity where needed. Zebari also called on the United Nations to do more toguarantee the credibility of the elections.--SPA1527 Local Time 1227 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/224871
