Wana, Pakistan, Sept 17, SPA -- Militants fired rockets Friday at Pakistan military base in a tense tribal region wheresecurity forces have recently fought suspected Muslim insurgents, officials said. The two rockets missed the base in South Waziristan's maintown of Wana, near the Afghan border, and no injuries werereported, a military official said on condition ofanonymity. The Associated Press quoted an intelligence official in Wana as saying that soldiers at the base retaliated with mortars and machine guns. It was not known if the attackers suffered any casualties. The official, who asked not to be named, said securityforces defused another rocket near the base. Also Friday, a man and his 4-year-old daughter wereinjured when a mortar round hit their home in Dhog villageoutside Wana.
