Beijing, Oct 25, SPA -- U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell onMonday urged Chinese leaders to pursue dialogue with Taiwanbut told them American weapons sales to the self-ruledisland would continue despite Beijing's objections. Powell acknowledged that Beijing distrusts the intentionsof Taiwanese President Chen Shui-bian. Powell met with Chinese President Hu Jintao and otherleaders and said he encouraged them to "do everything theycould to get into cross-straits dialogue in a more systemicand deliberate way."
