Hussein Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Oct 10, SPA -- Malaysian Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi on Sunday denied U.S. allegations that he received kickbacks from an alleged scam by former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein to undermine a U.N. oil-for-food program. In a report issued Wednesday, Charles Duelfer, head of theU.S. Iraq Survey Group, said Saddam issued secret vouchersfor the purchase of oil, which could then be resold at aprofit, to officials and political figures from variouscountries _ mainly Russia, France and China. "I just want to find out how come my name is there,"Abdullah told reporters. The Iraq Survey Group is a U.S. government body assignedto hunt for weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. The report said former French Interior Minister CharlesPasqua, Indonesian President Megawati Sukarnoputri andradical Russian political figure Vladimir Zhirinovsky hadreceived the vouchers. It also listed a "Mr. Abdullah Badawi" as one of therecipients, but didn't explicitly identify him as theMalaysian leader, and gave no further details. Malaysian Foreign Minister Syed Hamid Albar vowed toinvestigate the matter, voicing concerns there might be"people who want to smear the good name of this nation'sleadership."
