Baghdad, Feb 7, SPA -- Insurgents struck at Iraqi police forces with a suicide bomb, a car bomb and mortars in thecities of Mosul and Baqouba on Monday, killing at least 30people. The deadliest attack came in Baqouba, where a car bombexploded outside the gates of a provincial policeheadquarters, killing 15 people and wounding 17, policeCol. Mudhahar al-Jubouri said. Many of the victims werethere to seek jobs as policemen, al-Jubouri said. In the northern city of Mosul, a suicide bomber blewhimself up inside the compound of Jumhouri TeachingHospital, killing 12 policemen guarding the site andinjuring four others, hospital officials said. The bomb went off outside the hospital building, hospitalDirector Tahseen Ali Mahmoud al-Obeidi said. Witnesses saidthe bomber called the police officers over to him and thenblew up among the crowd. Also Monday, insurgents shelled a police station in Mosulwith more than a dozen mortar rounds, killing threecivilians, a police official said.
