United Nations, Dec 3, SPA -- The U.N. General Assembly has passed a series of resolutions involving the Palestinians, including one that calls for a peaceful settlement to the Arab-Israeli conflict. By a vote of 161 to 7, the General Assembly yesterday approved a resolution calling for the peaceful settlement of the Arab-Israeli conflict. The Assembly passed another resolution that called on Palestinians, Israelis and other parties to work more closely to prevent the security situation from deteriorating any further. "It also stressed the need for a speedy end to the re-occupation of Palestinian population centers and for the complete cessation of all acts of violence, including military attacks, destruction, and acts of terror," the U.N. said in a statement. In a separate resolution, the U.N. criticized the transfer of diplomatic missions to Al-Quds city. Any solution involving the dispute over Al-Quds city "must include internationally guaranteed provisions to ensure freedom of religion and of conscience, and permanent, free and unhindered access of all to holy places," the U.N. said in a statement. --SPA1440 Local Time 1140 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/221619
