Berlin, Dec 3, SPA -- Iraqi Prime Minister Ayad Allawi was meetingFriday with Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder to urge continuedGerman support in the rebuilding of his country. Allawi, on a three-nation tour that started in Jordan andwill also take him to Russia, said he would press hismessage that Iraq is on the road to recovery, though adifficult one. "The path before us will be difficult, and sometimesbloody," he wrote in an editorial published Thursday inthe Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung. "But stability,prosperity and democracy will win." Allawi called the German government's assistance "veryimportant," and said he also hoped to encourage moreGerman private sector investment in Iraq. He also planned to meet with German Foreign MinisterJoschka Fischer while in Berlin.
