London, Sept 1, SPA -- Former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher has posted bail for her son Mark, who is accused of involvement in a coup plot in Equatorial Guinea, a source close to Lady Thatcher said Wednesday. Lord Bell, Lady Thatcher's spokesman, declined to confirmor deny the report, which first appeared in The Timesnewspaper. However, a source close to the former prime ministerconfirmed to The Associated Press that she had provided thebail money. Sir Mark Thatcher was under house arrest at his residencein Cape Town pending the posting of a bond set at 2 millionrand (US$300,000, ¤250,000). Equatorial Guinea wants to question him and his allegedco-conspirators on charges of plotting to overthrow TeodoroObiang, the president of the tiny but oil-rich nation.
